There's so much information when trying to learn astrology, but the main thing that always gets confusing is finding out where to start. Having a main source of information is important, and when you're lost in an endless sea of podcasts, youtube videos, books, and courses, it can feel like you don't know which way is up. So allow me to introduce you to a few books that have helped me along the way in my astrology journey, and I hope can help you as well.

These books are judged on a few criteria:

  • Their foundation and accuracy in astrological knowledge
  • Their availability (I live in the middle of nowhere, so I wanted a book that you could just go to the store and flip through)
  • Their price point

With so many ways to learn astrology, it can really rack up fast. Courses can range from $20 to hundreds of dollars a pop, and if you're just beginning, it's not beneficial to drown in both information and debt. These books make learning astrology simple yet concise, so you have all of the information you need without scrambling to know where to start. Their foundations of astrology are strong, so you won't be getting any pop astrology.

First up, we have Llewellyn's Complete Book of Astrology. Those who know Llewellyn understand that they're big publishers in the astrological / tarot / witchy space, focusing a lot on the mystical side of things. Their books are well respected, easy to understand, and perfect for a beginner looking to get into the craft. This book in particular was actually what I started out with. It's concise yet detailed enough for anyone who is looking to get into astrology. Because Llewellyn is a big publishing house, you can find their books almost anywhere. It goes into all the basics - houses, signs, aspects, etc.

Next, we have a book who's title is quite fitting! It's called The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need. Frankly, you'll only need the second half of the book. But I'm including this, because like the Llewellyn book, it goes into aspects and dives deeper into some things beyond basic pop astrology. It's also an extremely popular book, so you'll have no problem finding it in stores. It's a good starting point for many who are interested in astrology and just seeking out information to learn more.

This next one you may have an issue finding in stores, but I actually lucked out and found it in a second hand book store. It's called The Only Way to Learn Astrology. I believe it is now out of print, but this is the most detailed of the three books. If you could pick up a copy, at least for reference, I would. This book can be for beginner to intermediate astrology learners. This book, like the Llewellyn book, kicked off a series of astrology books, which are much harder to find.

These books would be great for any beginner! If I had to truly choose between the three, I'd say the Llewellyn book or The Only Way to Learn Astrology would be excellent choices.

Thanks so much for reading! Please let me know if you have any questions. As always, I wish you the best on your astrology journey!

Much love,

Abby
